Opened in 2022 directly on Tangier Bay, Barceló Tanger is a modern, high-rise hotel with views stretching across the Mediterranean to Gibraltar and the Spanish coast on a clear day. Its 200 rooms and suites all come with balconies, and the premium sea-view rooms on the upper floors are worth the upgrade for the sense of the city's dramatic geography. Golf here comes with genuine history: the Royal Country Club de Tanger is around ten minutes away and, founded in 1914, is the oldest golf club in Morocco and the first in the entire Mediterranean basin, its parkland holes running through century-old cypress, pine and eucalyptus in the foothills of the Rif Mountains. Al Houara Golf Club, ranked among the top layouts in Africa, is a further 35 minutes down the coast.
