Set inland in the Murcia region at the foot of a natural park, Altaona Village trades coastal resort buzz for a dry, open, mountain-backed landscape and a distinctly residential feel. The 18-hole Altaona course, originally designed by Dave Thomas, runs across rolling ground with wide fairways balanced by shaping around the greens, natural waste areas and bunkering that reward good positioning over raw power; playable for mid-handicappers but interesting enough for stronger players when the wind picks up. Accommodation is mainly modern villas and apartments within the village rather than a hotel block, which suits groups and longer stays well, and a clubhouse with bar and restaurant overlooks the course.
